From Goodreads:
Zoë Sorensson is perfectly normal, except she's been told she's destined for great things. Zoë's the one female dragon shapeshifter of her kind. But Zoë is at the bottom of the class when it comes to being Pyr and her powers are AWOL, so she's sent to a Pyr boot camp.
Zoë quickly realizes that she has to master her powers yesterday, because the Pyr are in danger and boot camp is a trap. The Mages want to eliminate all shifters and the Pyr are next in line-unless Zoë and her friends can work together and save their own kind.
My Review:
Flying Blind is a beguiling YA debut that I couldn't put down! It is a feverish and intense read that will have you staying up way past your bed time. I cannot wait until the next installment in this highly addictive series!
Zoë is a fierce and intelligent protagonist that I was rooting for the whole time! It was wonderful seeing her reawakening to her dragon powers, and how she dealt with them. Zoë is a courageous friend who is willing to go to any lengths to protect those she loves. She is always ready to come to the defense of her human friend Meagan, which is what gets her into just a little bit of trouble and causes her powers to flare back up. I adored reading from Zoë's perspective, as she came into her Wyvern powers and found an unexpected love along the way.
I loved the side cast of characters! Each one is beautifully developed, especially a certain romantic interest of Zoë's (and no, he is not who you think he is). Nick is a hot and hunky dragon who girls will easily fall for. Garrett and Liam are also Zoë's friends who add more to the story. Isabella infuriated me at first, but then certain things were revealed, and well, I ended up liking her. And then there is Jared....mmmmmm. I won't say much about him other than to make sure to pay attention whenever he comes on the scene (it was hard to ignore him).
The plot is fast-paced and the characters discover things at just the right times. The dragons in this story are also very unique. Their mythology is intriguing and fascinating. Even though I have read Cooke's adult series, it was great to read from a teens perspective. Even if you haven't read Cooke's adult series (which I am sure most of you haven't), you will not be able to put this book down!
Do not miss out on this action-packed debut full of dragons, danger, and chemistry that sparks off the pages! Readers will be left panting for the next installment, Winging It, due out in December.
