Synopsis:
When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.
My Review:
Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors, so when I heard that she would be doing a spin-off series to Vampire Academy, I was so excited! I knew that Bloodlines would be just as good as, if not better, than her Vampire Academy series! I was not disappointed! Bloodlines is an exciting, captivating, and nail-biting read that will leave fans begging for the next installment in Mead's new series.
Sydney is intelligent and determined, but because of her Alchemist upbringing, she is wary of the Moroi. She has been trained to look after the well-being of humans and to make sure that they never find out about vampires. After her crazy adventures with Rose, she has become a touch more sympathetic of the Moroi. She isn't totally comfortable around them, but after living her whole life thinking that they were evil, it is understandable. I really enjoyed reading this book from Sydney's perspective. She isn't as harsh as Rose so it was easier for me to relate to her. I got to watch as she grew into a better person after going through so much in Bloodlines. I can't wait to see what is in store for her in the sequel to Bloodlines, The Golden Lily.
I started this while I was on vacation, and even though I was really busy with activities, I still made time to read Bloodlines! Richelle Mead has written yet another captivating and engaging series that is sure to fly off the shelves upon its release. Fans of Adrian will yet again swoon over his flirtatious personality! I don't want to reveal too much, but let me just say that Adrian is back and he is just as much of his bad boy self as before. We get to know Jill a bit more in Bloodlines and I came to feel for her. Mead also introduces us to a few more characters who really made the story interesting. Of course there is also more than enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat!
Bloodlines is a fantastic start to Mead's Vampire Academy spin-off series. I have to say, I may like this one more than the Vampire Academy series! Definitely run to the nearest bookstore when this one hit shelves!
My Rating:
Okay I skimmed your review because I'm really excited for this one but don't want to know anything about it before I read. I just wanted to read your last summary paragraph and see your rating, can't wait to read this! I was worried it would never live up to VA, but it doesn't sound like that's going to be a problem.
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to catch up with the Vampire Academy series! I think I've only read the first three (I hadn't read about Sydney yet). But your review of Bloodlines makes me want to finish the series! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to read this book! I've heard that it's a good book but not as good as VA. I'll just have to see for myself!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looking forward to reading this one! I LOVED Vampire Academy, and Richelle is a fantastically talented author (and super nice person in real life, too).
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
