My Review:
THE FUTURE OF US is a bold contemporary novel that will leave you feeling nice and satisfied. There is the perfect amount of drama, romance, and surprising twists that change everything! The premise is something that I have never seen before, so if you are looking for a unique and wonderfully written novel, this one is definitely for you.
What would you do if you were a teen in 1996 who was able to see the future through Facebook? It sounds so crazy but it happens to Emma and Josh. I honestly don't know what I would have done if it had happened! For one thing, there wasn't even a Facebook back then! I'm sure much freaking out would have ensued, but in the end I wouldn't resist being able to peak into my future, no matter that I might not like what I see. After all, what could happen? A LOT according to THE FUTURE OF US. It definitely made me reflect on life and how every little decision I make potentially impacts my future.
Emma was very sweet and curious, but she kind of infuriated me at times! I was frustrated with how she handled a few things, and though I understand her motivation, it didn't stop me from wanting to jump in the book and scream at her! Luckily, she grows as a person through her peaks into Facebook, and in the end it did so much for her.
Josh made me smile! He is such a sweetie and I loved him. While I hated some of the things he did because of Facebook, in the end it made him reflect and realize a whole lot. He and Emma are great friends and their interactions with each other make the story.
THE FUTURE OF US is one of those novels that you can't help yourself from devouring within hours! The story is fast-paced and well written with just enough of everything. Asher and Mackler have crafted a story that is sure to stick with you long after you turn the last page.
My Rating:
Emma frustrated me at times, too! But I guess that just made her all the more realistic. :P And I LOVED Josh. I love nice guys!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Bailey! :)
I'd probably not be able to resist peeking into my future either so I like that this one makes you think about how even a tiny decision can change your future.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure I had a computer in 1996! Maybe.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great review! I was on the fence about this one, but after that review, I will be getting this one. I loved 13 Reasons Why so I was hoping this one would be good!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a little romantic, realistic fiction. The characters go through a lot of real life dilemmas (albeit in a weird time travelish way), and I think anyone (boy or girl) could relate to the story. I really enjoyed reading this, it was quick, fun, thought-provoking, and I even teared up a bit! Go check this one out as soon as you can!
