Synopsis:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.
My Review:
I love the Hush, Hush series, so when SILENCE came out, I couldn't get it in my hands fast enough. All of our favorite characters are back, including the yummylicious Patch who is so bad but oh-so addictive. And yet after all the action, emotional scenes, and revelations, I came out a little disappointed. While I did like SILENCE, it just didn't have the magic that HUSH, HUSH and even CRESCENDO did. If you are a big fan of this series, I would still recommend reading it but don't expect to be especially wowed.
As you can see from the synopsis, Nora loses her memory of everything that has happened to her during the last five months, including her memory of Patch. I was so sad about this and I honestly don't see why this had to happen. I feel like after all they have been through together, this was just a big blow. I don't understand why a certain someone felt like Nora needed her memory of Patch to be erased.
Nora drove me insane in SILENCE. While I know how whiny she could be based on CRESCENDO, it just drove me up the wall in this one. And the scenarios she got herself into......!!!!! You do not go out alone at night to investigate a dangerous area, especially after you have just returned home from having been KIDNAPPED. I wanted to slap some sense into Nora but I knew that even that wouldn't help her.
The saving grace in SILENCE was Patch. No matter what that boy does, I cannot get mad at him. He just has this magnetic presence about him that no one can resist. Even after three books, he continues to be a bit of a mystery to me and I gobble up everything that is revealed about him. Even though he has had a very rough "life", his love for Nora is obvious and I love seeing guys like him fall prey to a girl!
While I SILENCE is definitely not my favorite book in this saga, I was still able to enjoy myself. After that ending, I may go crazy waiting on the next book.
My Rating:
Hm. I have a feeling if Nora drove you crazy in this one she's going to have the same affect on me. She about gave me an ulcer in Crescendo with her ridiculousness, so I'm going to have to shore up my patience before I tackle this one I think:) I still have to read it though, if for no other reason than I love Patch:)
ReplyDeleteUh oh... Sounds like Nora is going to drive me batty, too. I'll probably wait to read this one, but I know I won't be able to resist Patch for long. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame to see this series go downhill! I loved Hush Hush, but after reading meh reviews about Crescendo, I stopped reading the series (might as well quit while it's still good!). I'm even more glad I did now that you say Silence is disappointing! Major bummer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts, Bailey! :)
Well, I just got rid of my copies of Hush Hush and Crescendo because Crescendo infuriated me so badly I figured I was done with the series. Your review of Silence has me convinced I did the right thing. Sorry you were disappointed though :(
