Interview with Jus Accardo

Today I have an interview with author of Touch, Jus Accardo. Thanks for coming on the blog!

1. What inspires you to write?

Anything, really. A trip to the coffee place down the road can inspire
something. Ideas are everywhere--we just need to look. Music is the
biggie, too. If I'm stuck on something, or if a scene or character is
falling flat, I flip on my Zune, and BOOM.

2. What were your thoughts the first time you saw the cover for TOUCH?

Who IS that? ;) (then, holy crap... that's MY name on the cover...)

3. What were your favorite books as a teen?

I loved anything by S.E Hinton, and Mary Stanton's The Heavenly Horse
from the Outermost West, I must have read a thousand times... And L.J
Smith? I was obsessed.

4. Describe TOUCH in three words.

Secrets, romance, and action I think are the best.

5. What would your dad have done if you had brought a strange boy home?

I'm not really sure... At Dez's age, there was no way I would have done
something like that. He probably would have popped a blood vessel or four,
though. My parents weren't strict, but I think that would have been a line
in the sand!

About the Author:

Jus Accardo is the author of YA paranormal romance and urban fantasy
fiction. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her
husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald. Her first book,
Touch, is due out in November 2011 from Entangled Publishing. She is
represented by Kevan Lyon of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

When a strange boy
tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet,
seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the
opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie
with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the
shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts
like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father
shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should,
that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law
firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization
devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as
weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two
team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen
before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of
all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

  1. I think my dad would have calmly and coolly escorted said boy right back out of the house as soon as I brought him in, then he would have slammed the door shut and locked it:) And I can't imaging seeing the cover for your book for the first time, what an amazing feeling! Awesome interview:)

  2. Music is very inspiring for me, too--but I can't have it playing while I write! :P
My dad would definitely pop a few blood vessels if I brought a strange boy home unannounced. Parents just aren't equipped for that sort of scenario! :P

  4. I've been hearing about this book, and I really want to read it. And this was such a fun interview to read. I can't wait to get that WTF moment of seeing my name on a cover, too!

  5. Great Interview with Jus, Bailey! I loved Touch!
I'm working on my review. I just seem to gush too much in the first two so I'm trying to tone it down. I may end up with Just Read It!

    Have you read it yet?
