Review: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

September 27, 2011
Simon & Schuster

Synopsis:
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

My Review:
*Heads up that this will be a very, very different review. I apologize in advance for my fangirling. Since Mara Dyer is like nothing I have ever read, I decided to write a review like I have never reviewed before. We will return to my normally formatted reviews after I recover from the sheer greatness of THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER.*

This is me reading Mara Dyer: "OMIGOSH this book is so good! What's going to happen? OMIGOSH no! I can't believe it!! EEP here comes Noah! He is soooo dreamy. AHH! Something just happened. What is going on?? This is craziness and Hodkin is a genius!!"

This is me after finishing Mara Dyer: "WHAT??? NO WAY! Are you kidding me?? That happened? And then this happened??? AND then she ends it??? NOOOO!! I need Mara Dyer #2!!! And more Noah. Please can I have more Noah (I was on my knees pleading at this point)????!"

Yes, this is actually what I was thinking at the time. Honestly, after finishing THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER, I was having a major freakout. And then all of the sudden I was speechless. I am just so in awe of Hodkin's talent. She drew me in with her very first words and didn't let me go from her world even after I had set down the book.

Now let me just say that when you start this book, be prepared to have your head messed with (in a good way). You will find yourself so utterly involved in the story that you think you are part of Mara's world. You will think that you yourself are crushing on the absolutely gorgeous and to-die-for Noah and won't be able to be involved in your regular activities. I lived and breathed Mara Dyer for the whole 24 hours that it took me to read it.

Okay, I think I may have to end my review here before I give too much away! Just make sure that you have plenty of free time when you first start reading THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER because you will not be able to put it down for even a minute!!
