Review: Forget You by Jennifer Echols

From Goodreads:
WHY CAN’T YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU FORGET . . . AND WHAT YOU REMEMBER? There’s a lot Zoey would like to forget. Like how her father has knocked up his twenty-four- year old girlfriend. Like Zoey’s fear that the whole town will find out about her mom’s nervous breakdown. Like darkly handsome bad boy Doug taunting her at school. Feeling like her life is about to become a complete mess, Zoey fights back the only way she knows how, using her famous attention to detail to make sure she’s the perfect daughter, the perfect student, and the perfect girlfriend to ultra-popular football player Brandon. But then Zoey is in a car crash, and the next day there’s one thing she can’t remember at all—the entire night before. Did she go parking with Brandon, like she planned? And if so, why does it seem like Brandon is avoiding her? And why is Doug—of all people— suddenly acting as if something significant happened between the two of them? Zoey dimly remembers Doug pulling her from the wreck, but he keeps referring to what happened that night as if it was more, and it terrifies Zoey to admit how much is a blank to her. Controlled, meticulous Zoey is quickly losing her grip on the all-important details of her life—a life that seems strangely empty of Brandon, and strangely full of Doug.

My Review:

This was such a great book and I am so in love with this author! I wish it wouldn't have taken me this long to find this author's books but I am so glad I listened to all the gushing reviews about Jennifer Echols!

There were so many things I loved about this book. Zoey was a very relatable character and I understood what drove her actions, though I may not have agreed with some of the things she did. One thing that drove me crazy was how she wouldn't believe that Brandon was cheating on her when it was right in front of her face. I know that there are a lot of girls out there that won't admit to themselves that their boyfriend is cheating, even though they subconsiously know. It would be very hard to come to terms with, though it didn't stop me from yelling at Zoey. Doug was a sexy hunk of a man and such a sweetie towards Zoey! He has a bit of a scarred past and problems that come with it. Put these two characters together and sparks fly! There is so much sexual tension between them throughout the book. It sizzles between them when they are together! I found the secondary characters in the story to be quite enjoyable, each with their own problems. I have to say though, I really disliked Zoey's dad. I didn't understand why he treated Zoey so badly but I guess there are probably people like him out in the world, taking out their anger on others who don't deserve it. Brandon was a bug that I would have loved to squash. No understanding for girls feelings, typical playboy!

Overall, I loved seeing Zoey and Doug's relationship grow and I wish there was a sequel to Forget You! If you haven't read this book already, pick it up ASAP. You will find yourself not able to be torn away from the pages!

  1. I just finished this one yesterday and I think you liked it a bit more than me. Liked it - just didn't love it (although I loved Doug!) You really should read Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols if you haven't yet. It was a favorite of mine last year.
